What is guest registration flow content?
A guest will see different web page content in the registration flow, depending on their status (open registration, invited, registered, declined, cancelled).
If you are using "open registration" links (see below), then users will be take to a step to enter their name and email to proceed.
If you are inviting named guests, they will be taken to the landing page or registration form depending on which email tags you use. The various email tags are detailed below.
Building additional guest web pages
If you are using the Contemporary guest template, you will also have access to create Additional Guest Pages, which enables you to build out mobile-optimised event websites with advanced content control and layouts. This article only deals with the core registration workflow.
Understanding guest page states
There are 5 possible page states that a guest can see:
- Open registration page - This is only shown to the guest if they are sent an "open registration" link. Refer to the article Sending open guest registration links outside the system for more information.
- Landing page with accept/decline (pre-registration) - Where a guest lands when they are invited if the template uses the ${guestportallink} tag. Guests are asked to accept or decline the invitation.
- Registration form - Guests are taken here from the landing page if they accept an invitation so they can complete their registration. Any configured guest fields are shown on the registration form (see Configuring guest fields). Invitation emails can skip the landing page and take guests directly to the registration form state by using the ${guestacceptlink} tag instead of ${guestportallink}. If guests editing their registrations is enabled, then when they edit their registration, they are taken back to the registration form.
- Registration confirmation - Guests are taken here once they have confirmed their registration.
- Cancelled / declined - Shown to guests if they decline an invitation or cancel their registration having previously registered. Invitation emails can skip the landing page and take guests directly to the decline confirmation page by using the ${guestdeclinelink} tag, for quicker declining of invitations.
Where to edit guest page content
The table below summarise the guest states and where the content can be edited:
Guest status / state | Page name | Where to edit page content |
Sent open registration link | Open registration | Via Messages tab |
Invited (landing page) | Pre-registration | Event's Guest Page tab |
Invited (registration form) | Registration | Event's Guest Page tab |
Registration confirmation | Post-registration | Event's Guest Page tab |
Cancelled / Declined | Cancelled / Declined | Via Messages tab |
Where content is edited on the Messages tab, this is accessed via Settings > Messages tab > Guest Portal Messages. This is brief text that is displayed to all guests across all events and cannot be edited per event.
Where content is edited via an event's Guest Page tab, rich web page content can be created using the WYSIWYG editor and images and other media embedded within the content as required.
